Home Loan — common questions

Read next: Home Loan Balance Transfer: When Does It Make Sense?

How much home loan can I get?

It depends on your income, existing EMIs, credit score and the property's value. Use the eligibility check on our home page for a rough figure, then we confirm it with lenders.

Is there a penalty for prepaying a home loan?

Under RBI rules, banks and NBFCs cannot charge a prepayment penalty to individual borrowers on floating-rate home loans. Fixed-rate loans can carry charges — check your loan agreement.

Should I transfer my home loan to another bank?

It can be worth it when the rate difference is meaningful and a good part of the tenure is left. Weigh the saving against the new lender's processing, legal and valuation charges.
