Business Loan — common questions

Can I get a business loan without collateral?

Often, yes. Many lenders offer unsecured business loans to businesses with steady banking and filed returns, and eligible micro and small enterprises can borrow without collateral under CGTMSE. Larger amounts or a thinner track record usually need security.

Which is right for me — a term loan or a CC/OD limit?

A term loan suits a one-time need such as machinery or expansion. A cash credit or overdraft limit suits money that goes out and comes back through the business cycle, because you pay interest only on what you draw. Many businesses use both.

Do I need GST registration?

Most lenders ask for it, along with GST returns, because they show turnover. If your business is not GST-registered, tell us — some lenders and schemes can work from bank statements and other proof.
